DLHS was formed in 2005 by a group of friends with a mutual interest in the history of Darwen.
Our aims are to promote interest in the local, social & archaeological history of the town and its surrounding areas.
We hope to do this by collating, recording & where possible preserving information for future use.
Many local supporters have donated books, ephemera and various topographical items knowing that we have a genuine interest in Darwen's history and its welfare for the future.
The society consist of many people who have already contributed to local exhibitions in their own right & have also displayed at the Darwen Gala for the past three years. We wish to encourage all our members to contribute to the running of the society. This could be in the form of giving a talk or staging a small display for the meetings.
Some of our members have worked with Blackburn with Darwen Library in producing the Town Centre Heritage Trails, which have proved very successful.
